Packaged foods are safe to eat. Also, food that is served to you freshly prepared and served hot should be safe. Take bottled water, or you can boil tap water over a stove or fire for several minutes. Don't drink unboiled tap water, fountain drinks or anything with ice cubes.

Use bug spray to protect against disease carrying insects. Wear Long-sleeved, lose fitting clothes. Avoid direct contact with animals, including common pets like dogs and cats. They could injure you, or carry bacteria that cause serious illness.

The Gourde (HTG) is the currency in Haiti, but most refer to this as the Haitian Dollar. The people in Haiti accept both American dollars (USD) and Haitian cash. The currency exchange rate in Haiti fluctuates frequently. Currency exchange can be done at the Haitian airport when arriving.
